I find this to be the coolest graph. The first two columns are LCD (type of flat-screen) monitors. As you can see, it really does not make a difference on these monitors* whether you have black or white on the display, but the darker it is, the better **. The last 4 are CRT monitors (the big thick ones). The biggest energy saver here is using a black background, but going darker does help a little. Remember that CRT monitors shoot electrons at the screen, whereas LCD are kind of flipping switches, then shining a light from behind.

Monitor Averages

One thing I have programmed into my website is to set the color of your text and background. If expand settings on the left side, then click on colors. After you summit your new colors it will send you back to the home page with new colors. I know, I could be better, but that requires time, and Calc 2 and time do not get along.

*There are some LED monitors that adjust brightness based on what they are displaying to make blacks blacker
